Felix Mendelssohn travelled to and loved Scotland. His ‘Scottish’ is one of the great symphonies of the Romantic period and reflects the exciting landscape and eventful history of this fascinating country. With the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, popular guests and ‘native speakers’ of this music return under the baton of their Danish music director Thomas Søndergård. He is just as much a familiar face in our concerts as the internationally successful pianist Francesco Piemontesi, who will devote himself to Johannes Brahms' symphonic first piano concerto, which is always a new discovery, before the interval.
