What was that again, with this Robin Hood?

He has accompanied mankind in countless ballads and tales since the 15th century. First he was portrayed as a dangerous highwayman of lowly origin, then as an Anglo-Saxon nobleman with patriotic inclinations, before finally mutating into a pioneer of social justice who takes from the rich and gives to the poor. But none of this is historically proven. This year's play poses the question of what it was really like in a witty and bizarre way and comes up with completely new, unexpected insights.

As always highly musical, with great enthusiasm and a lot of heart, the Salzburg Street Theater team is preparing an experience for the whole family this summer: humorous characters, a poetic love story, lively music, a bit of philosophy and the final, speculative truth from Sherwood Forest.

The History of the Touring Theatre

It was a great desire of the renowned director Oscar Fritz Schuh to offer all Salzburg residents theatre of the highest quality free of charge in the summer. Fritz Schuh chose travelling theatre from the tradition of commedia dell'arte as a way to bring theatre to its audience for this project. The Salzburger Kulturvereinigung has realised this dream and has been organising the Salzburg Street Theatre every year for 50 years during the Salzburg Festival season.
