Rachmaninow Piano concerto No. 2

GIOACHINO ROSSINI
Overture from „Semiramide”

SERGEJ RACHMANINOFF
Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2, C minor

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Symphony No. 7, A major

ORCHESTRA SINFONICA DI MILANO
EMMANUEL TJEKNAVORIAN Conductor
KIRON ATOM TELLIAN Piano

The only 22-year-old Austrian pianist Kiron Atom Tellian began his piano studies in Vienna at the age of seven and is already a young man who has been showered with prizes. Audiences and the press are always impressed by the ‘bravura and maturity’ of his playing. Sergei Rachmaninov's second piano concerto is one of the great pianistic revelations of the so-called late Romantic period, full of passion and beautiful melancholy. Ludwig van Beethoven's Seventh Symphony is much more, but also a ravishing ‘apotheosis of dance’, to which Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Austrian Armenian, violinist, increasingly successful conductor and, since 2024, head of the Milan Symphony Orchestra, will devote himself. And of course, a top Italian orchestra also has a lively Rossini overture on the programme. This time it's the rarely heard overture to the seria opera ‘Semiramide’.
