The Swiss-born pianist Francesco Piemontesi interprets one of the great romantic piano concertos, that of Robert Schumann, in which poetic creative power, symphonic form and pianistic brilliance become a stirring whole. The overture is the atmospheric prelude to Richard Wagner's "Lohengrin". Paul Hindemith's artful "Weber Metamorphoses" could be described as "reverberations of Romanticism", subtle and effective transformations of four-hand piano pieces and Carl Maria von Weber's exotic "Turandot" overture. At the end, Maestro Alain Altinoglu and the hr-Sinfonieorchester perform a masterpiece of expressive orchestral magic. With "La Valse," Maurice Ravel created a fascinating homage to the Viennese waltz. The intoxication in three-four time becomes a dance on the volcano.
