With the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, popular guests return to Salzburg under the baton of their Danish music director Thomas Søndergård. He is just as familiar to our concerts as the internationally successful pianist Francesco Piemontesi, who this time will play Maurice Ravel's Concerto in G major, written in the spirit of Mozart and in the sound world of Impressionism - 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the French master's birth. The work will be framed by two other gems of 20th century music. Benjamin Britten painted a magnificent picture of the high seas off the coast of England, while Sergei Rachmaninov showed in his rousing Symphonic Dances that he was not only a piano magician but also a brilliant orchestral composer.
