Musical Walk: In the footsteps of Mahler's 3rd Symphony

Join us at the original location where Mahler's 3rd Symphony was written. Gustav Mahler spent the summers of 1893-1896 in the midst of picturesque nature in Steinbach am Attersee. In four summers he composed the entire 3rd Symphony in addition to numerous songs and parts of the 2nd Symphony.
Experience the places of inspiration and the natural monuments so expressively depicted in Mahler's musical language, which form the basis of the monumental 3rd Symphony together with Thomas Heißbauer. Be impressed by the sight of the mighty Höllengebirge and the view over the Attersee and feel how these impressions led the composer to movement headings such as "What the flowers in the meadow tell me" or "What love tells me". The work, completed 125 years ago, will be brought to life at four stops in and around Steinbach.
By bus and concluding with a boat trip with Mahler's favorite pastry, the afternoon together offers a fascinating insight into Mahler's creative power, whatever the weather.
