With this programme, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and its principal conductor Dennis Russell Davies lead us into the world of sound of the Slavic soul, into the rousing joy of dance and life of the music of the East, into the beautiful melancholy and the moving melody of the wise men of Bohemia and Poland. After the humorous and lively 5 Bagatelles op. 47 of Antonin Dvořák we dive into the lyrical, sensitively spun sound world of Frédéric Chopin, who felt himself to be a Polish patriot. The young Vorarlberg star pianist Aaron Pilsan makes his Salzburg debut with the 2nd Piano Concerto. After the break, two Czech masters of modern music will provide brilliant orchestral colours. With Bohuslav Martinů we travel to Tuscany to a great Renaissance painter, with Leoš Janáček to a legendary Cossack hero of Russia. The Filharmonie Brno is deeply connected to Janáček, its co-founder, and many of his works were premiered by the orchestra.
Unfortunately, the introductory lectures before our subscription concerts cannot take place this season due to corona-related conditions.
