One of today's most celebrated violin virtuosos, Augustin Hadelich, will perform Sergei Prokofiev's second violin concerto, which is balanced between blossoming lyricism and motoric rhythms. The Wiener Symphoniker under Maestro Alexander Soddy will also be bringing a romantic sound experience to their annual tour of Austria. Richard Wagner's ‘Tristan und Isolde’, for Leonard Bernstein ‘the hub of the wheel’ in music, is represented by the prelude, which opens up new harmonic worlds, and the intoxicating Liebestod. Edward Elgar's orchestral masterpiece, the ‘Enigma Variations’, is probably the most beautiful puzzle game in music history, full of grandiose inventiveness.
