This time the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, traditional guests of the Cultural Association, will come under the direction of the charismatic Parisian conductor Alain Altinoglu, who is active at the world's leading opera houses, at the Salzburg Festival and in Bayreuth. Antonín Dvořáks singular "Symphony from the New World" is a masterpiece from which one can never get enough. Unforgettable melodies and dances of the "old" and the "new" world become "world music" in the best sense in harmonious mastery.
Gustav Mahler's "Blumine" movement, originally a part of his 1st Symphony, is romantic music of longing with trumpet solo. In addition to this, this evening will feature Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, which is always excitingly virtuosic and full of feeling. The Latvian virtuoso Baiba Skride will play it. She made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2004 with great success and performs as a soloist and chamber musician with renowned orchestras all over the world.
Unfortunately, the introductory lectures before our subscription concerts cannot take place this season due to corona-related conditions.
