„Zeit für Musik @ home“ – - season finale 2020/21 will be streamed

13.04.2021

2020/21 season finale as "Zeit für Musik @ home" concert in stream.
Cancellation of the student and apprentice concerts (4/22/21, 10:00 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.)

Since the pandemic-related situation also offers no prospects for cultural events with audience attendance in April, the Salzburger Kulturvereinigung must unfortunately cancel the season-ending concerts in the Großes Festspielhaus with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg from April 21 to 23, 2021 and the student and apprentice concerts with the Philharmonie Salzburg on April 22, 2021.

"We are of the opinion that there must nevertheless be a perspective for the artists and that it is once again "time for music"! Therefore, we have decided to stream the season finale with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg and Salzburg soloist Benjamin Schmid from the Großes Festspielhaus under strict hygiene measures. Initially, the free stream will be available to our subscribers on Friday, 4/23/2021, starting at 7:30 p.m., and will finally be unlocked for all interested parties starting on 4/27/2021.  With the beautiful final program, we want to make all music lovers happy," says Thomas Heißbauer, Artistic Director of the Salzburger Kulturvereinigung.

The well-known producer Hannes Schalle could be won for the recording and realization of the "Zeit für Musik @ home" concert. Due to travel restrictions, the originally scheduled conductor, Gérard Korsten, had to cancel his participation. Instead, Leo Hussain, 2009-2014 music director of the Salzburg Landestheater, will take over the conducting.

There will also be a small programmatic change. Instead of Weinberg's "Sinfonietta No. 1, op. 41," Paul Dukas' magnificent fanfare from the ballet music for "La Péri" will be heard. This will be followed by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's highly virtuosic Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, performed by the acclaimed violinist Benjamin Schmid. Schmid was awarded the German Record Prize in 2013 for his recording of this work. Finally, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg will devote itself to Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," an orchestral suite full of glorious music and colorful, dazzling instrumentation.

The concert is provided free of charge on a "pay as you wish" basis. Donations are possible via the online store www.kulturvereinigung.com , by phone +43 662 845346 and via e-mail info@kulturvereinigung.com.
