At the beginning of the series of resounding images from the history and nature of Bohemia is "Vyšehrad", the old royal castle on the steep cliff near Prague - the "Vltava", one of the real classical hits, also flows mightily by it at the end of this tale of the life of a river, considered a prime example of programme music. Rarer to hear is the heroic legend of the riding and loving Amazon princess "Šárka". Then the spring-like splendour of sound in "Bohemia's Grove and Meadow" delights, before national apotheoses powerfully and hymnally conclude the impressive work with the description of the heroic city of the Hussites, "Tábor", and the "holy" mountain, "Blanik". The founder of Czech national music, Bedřich Smetana, born in 1824, only heard his cycle "Má Vlast" (My Fatherland), one of the highlights of the genre of symphonic poetry, within himself; for Beethoven's fate of deafness struck him from 1874. The Prague Symphony Orchestra under the baton of its principal conductor Tomáš Brauner dedicate themselves to a piece that is a national treasure in the Czech Republic.
