LUKAS STERNATH Piano

The young Viennese pianist Lukas Sternath has already toured the world as a Viennese choirboy. He is now a student of Igor Levit and won not only 1st prize in the ARD competition in 2022, but also the SKV special prize for the outstanding interpretation of a Romantic work. In the 2024/25 season, he is an "ECHO Rising Star" and will perform the symphonic first piano concerto by Johannes Brahms, one of the most effective works of German Romanticism, in Salzburg before the interval. On the podium of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, we welcome its charismatic conductor Patrick Hahn from Graz, who is currently the youngest GMD in the German-speaking world and is currently enjoying a great international career. Antonín Dvořák's "great" symphonies also include the Seventh in D minor, composed for England in 1885 and yet full of Bohemian melodiousness and the joy of dancing. The Czech master's best friend and mentor was Johannes Brahms, whose symphonies were the inspiration here in their classical form.
