The Salzburg Street Theatre will be touring the city and province of Salzburg again this summer from 14 July to 7 August 2022 in its 51st season. With the play "Extrawurst" Georg Clementi, artistic director of the Salzburg Street Theatre, has chosen a contemporary comedy that has it all. The general meeting of a tennis club is to vote on the purchase of a new barbecue - if it weren't for the proposal to additionally finance a second barbecue for the club's only Muslim member. A well-intentioned idea, but one that triggers immense discussions and puts the club to the test.
If the dispute over a barbecue of one's own provides the ostensible cause of the comedy, the rest of the performance explores the question of how many rights a majority must grant a minority - or vice versa? It's a lot of fun with so much subtlety that you can't help laughing in between. The audience, as members of the club, are directly part of the action, they too are allowed to vote and experience how a society can completely disintegrate.
